2018 International Family History Expo

In 2018, Family History Expos celebrates 15 Years of Service to the genealogical community.  We are holding our first ever International Family History Expo this year.

Our theme is “Pirates of the Pedigree.”

We invite you to join our celebration this year as a presenter at this online world event. You will be helping researchers from across the world to navigate a seemingly endless sea of records. Be a beacon of light for others to follow. You can participate from the comfort of your own home or office. You will need a connection to the internet, webcam, and a mic. The event will be broadcast live as well as some classes that will be pre-recorded.

Desired topics include looking for the light and avoiding “Pirates of the Pedigree” by using resources to help with:

  • Research in specific countries, regions, or states
    • How to locate and use basic sources for a specific place
      • Marriage records
      • Census records
      • Probate and court records
      • Land and tax records
      • Cemetery, sexton, and memorial records
      • Vital records
    • Study methodology, skill building, and critical thinking
    • Online research techniques and how to discover errors in online genealogies
    • Locating archive and library repositories online and onsite
    • Untangling messed-up, merged-up family trees
    • Assistance classes for using large data websites
    • Collaborating via the internet through online protocols (email, texting, Skype, websites, social media, and more)
    • New technology
