The term ‘sticky notes’ is the politically correct way of referring to those tiny 3M Post It Notes without naming the brand — like saying tissues instead of Kleenex.

Long ago Cousin Russ demonstrated how to make quick digital notations on a Windows computer using the built-in Microsoft “Sticky Notes App.” See: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/get-started-with-sticky-notes-86b36182-fdf5-4f9b-af7a-2846f83263f5

Ol’ Myrt here is diligently sorting through a gazillion digital and paper sticky notes. I’m transferring info as necessary so I can declutter my desk and my computer’s desktop. Categories thus far:

— Research reminders added to several ancestors’ to-do list. (I typically create these when I’m working on one thing, and find something to do on another line and don’t want to be distracted.)

— New usernames and passwords get added to my Rolodex. (Yes, if you broke into my office and waded past piles of books waiting to be shelved, you’d have full access to my life’s secrets if you stole only that old Rolodex.)

— Those tiny paper notes I created when trying to learn new software or a different process. (Right now I’m focusing on WordPress, but I digress.)

— Notes about new interests including Pacific Northwest indigenous iconography and needle felting resources.

— Things to discuss with our estate planning attorney.

— Questions for the doctor next time we visit.

The result? Research in an organized workspace frees my mind to focus on the task at hand. 🤗
